In modern times the relationship we have with food is largely anonymous with a reliance on unsustainable food production systems that exists out of sight and mind; diminishing how people value their food. This proposal aims to establish a transparent relationship with how food is grown in the inner workings of urban Shoreditch, London. It offers a solution for securing future food supplies and production, through the use of innovative technologies and optimizing land-use within an urban setting.

Vertical rotisserie farming

The rotisserie farming system allows for functionality and universal accessibility. Plant exposure to natural sunlight is optimised as well as the minimal space of the site. The hydroponic farming method uses 80% less water than traditional farming methods.

Marketplace

From farmer to consumer. Food miles are removed, cutting out the need to transport produce.

Beehives

The natural wilding of the roof provides the necessary forage for bees to thrive.
